How the AI visibility checker scores your site

The audit is weighted: AI Crawler Accessibility (30%), Schema / Structured Data (25%), On-Page Citability (20%), Sitemap (10%), Security & Trust (10%), llms.txt (5%). Each category checks between 3 and 6 specific signals fetched live from your site. Crawler access is scored on the bots that decide whether you can appear in AI answers (OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, ClaudeBot, Bingbot, Googlebot). Blocking training-only crawlers such as GPTBot or Google-Extended is reported but not penalized. llms.txt carries little weight because no major AI engine has confirmed using it, and in our October 2026 study businesses AI recommended had one at almost the same rate as businesses it skipped.

Questions

AI Visibility Audit: common questions

What does an AI visibility checker measure?

This AI visibility checker measures whether AI engines can reach, read and quote your site: robots.txt access for the AI crawlers, schema, sitemap, on-page citability, security and llms.txt. To see whether ChatGPT actually names your business, pair it with the ChatGPT rank tracker or a full GEO audit.

How is the AI visibility score weighted?

AI crawler accessibility 30%, schema and structured data 25%, on-page citability 20%, sitemap 10%, security and trust 10%, llms.txt 5%. Each category checks three to six live signals fetched from your site.

Does Google use llms.txt?

No, and no other major AI engine has confirmed using it either. In our October 2026 study, businesses AI recommended had an llms.txt file at almost the same rate as businesses it skipped (29.8% vs 28.8%). That is why it carries only 5% of the score: it is cheap to add, but crawler access, schema and citable content matter far more.

What is the fastest way to lift a D or F grade?

Usually two fixes: unblock the AI search crawlers in robots.txt (OAI-SearchBot for ChatGPT search, PerplexityBot, ClaudeBot) and add LocalBusiness plus FAQ schema to your key pages. Both can be done in under an hour with the free generators on this site.

Does the audit store or share my URL?

No. The fetch happens in memory, the result is returned to your browser and nothing is written to a database. Re-run it whenever you like.
