Claude

Also known as: Claude AI, Anthropic Claude

Claude is Anthropic's family of large language models, used both as a consumer chat assistant and as the AI behind many enterprise tools including Notion AI, Slack AI, and developer products. Claude is known for long context, careful reasoning, and strong citation behaviour.

What it means

Claude is the family of large language models built by Anthropic. The product launched in 2023 and has gone through several major versions, with Claude 4 the current generation in 2026. Claude is used directly as a chat assistant at claude.ai, embedded into apps like Notion and Slack, and accessed by developers via API.

Claude has historically been less aggressive about live web search than ChatGPT or Gemini, but recent versions include search and citation capabilities.

Why it matters

While Claude has lower direct query volume than ChatGPT, it powers a meaningful share of enterprise AI workflows. When a user asks Notion AI a question, Claude is often the model answering. When a developer uses an AI coding assistant, Claude is frequently the underlying model.

For B2B service businesses, Claude citations matter because Claude users skew toward higher-intent professional queries.

How it's used
